TIA BRAZDA

One of Canada’s most recognizable voices in jazz, TIA BRAZDA delves into the past with her new album WHEN I GET LOW. Recently home from European tour dates, this album finds Brazda rediscovering songs largely from the 1930s, in the Great American songbook. The entire album was recorded remotely, with all the players tracking their parts in home studios, ranging from Northern Ontario to New Orleans, due to the pandemic.  Originally from Vancouver, Tia Brazda’s jazz-pop gems and retro style have established her as a strong and unique presence on the jazz scene, both at home in Canada and abroad. Not only a singer, but a songwriter as well, Brazda has performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival and Festival International de Jazz de Montreal, as well as toured numerous times across North America, from intimate supper clubs to large outdoor festivals. Her music has been described as a “hip pastiche” and a “walking catalog of 20th century jazz styles”. Her first single “Cabin Fever” broke through in 2012 and she followed that up with the 2015 full-length Bandshell, named as one of the best of the decade in the Italian press and one of the best of the year by Jazz FM 91 in Toronto.

COLLEEN BROWN

Colleen Brown tears at our hearts as she does her own, with versatile songs and a captivating voice akin to Joni Mitchell. Her latest album is the pandemic-inspired ‘Isolation Songs’, which finds her effortlessly weaving elements of folk, roots, Americana and pop into a sublime, striking blend. Previously she released the album ‘Direction’, co-produced by Joel Plaskett, which topped Canadian college radio charts and aired on CBC, with touring at home and in Europe.  In 2018, she formed the band Major Love, which garnered two singles in the CBC Radio Top 20. Colleen continues to be a beloved live performer, having won over audiences opening for Jim Cuddy, Rufus Wainwright and Kathleen Edwards. Her brand new album ‘Winging It’ is out this fall.
