Weddings bring together generations, families, friends and sometimes little guests.
If you've got little guests attending your wedding, it is important to plan how to keep them busy and happy. Because happy kids equals happy parents! A wedding day could be a long day for children but with little care and planning your day for them could be as joyful as it will be for you and other grown-ups.
Here are some ideas that can help you plan on how to keep your tiny guests amused, without stress and without noise.
Kids’ Table
A kids’ table, decorated with colouring sheets, puzzles, crafts, or even wedding-themed goodie bags can be a great idea and may work wonders. Throw in a few crayons and stickers, and suddenly, they’re not bored, they’re busy. Plan and give them a space that’s just for them
Nanny Care
Hiring a few trusted, experienced nannies or childminders can make all the difference. While parents get to enjoy the ceremony and reception without worry, children have someone attentive and familiar to care for them. It brings peace of mind, and often, a much smoother evening for all.
At our venue, we’ve seen how well it works—kids feel looked after, parents feel grateful, and everyone can relax and enjoy a little more.
Kid-Friendly Menu
Children can feel a little lost with complex menu. Offering a kid-friendly menu with familiar favourites (think mini pizzas, fruit cups, or mac and cheese) makes them feel considered. And full kids = happy kids and happy parents.
Simple Games
Think lawn games, bubbles, mini scavenger hunts, or even a cozy corner with books and soft cushions. Set them up with a few safe and simple options, and they’ll make the fun themselves.
At our venue, we have seen wedding planner set up an area for kids in the yard where nannies can keep them busy with games and other activities.
Reception Lighting
It may get overwhelming for kids with loud music flashing lights, etc. If they’re part of your evening celebration, consider keeping a softer, warmer corner of the room lit gently, where they can unwind if needed. It may be a small touch but it can mean a lot.
